Save the Date: DREAM II Learning Events



Following the success of the DREAM II pre-conferences, a series of Learning / Sharing Events will be organized on topics of common interest. The learning event is meant to create connections between different organizations working on this topic, to share experience and discuss the scaling of the good practices.

The first learning event took place on Tuesday March 9th, 2021, from 10AM - 1PM (Ethiopian Time Zone) with the theme The Rangeland Fodder Nexus in the lowlands. During the event organisations with experience in fodder management presented about their work, followed by a panel discussion and formulation of lessons learned.

The second learning event will take place on Wednesday April 28th, 2021, (9.00 - 12.15 Ethiopian Time) with the theme Educational institutionalization of the Dry Valley Rehabilitation and Productive Use Approach (DVRPU). The Learning Event will focus to what extent educational programs at the level of Universities and TVETs cater for the specific needs of the lowlands and the development of the lowlands. As part of this, the Learning Event will discuss the educational institutionalization of Dry Valley Rehabilitation and Productive Use (DVRPU) Approach.

The third learning event will take place in May 2021.

Following the DREAM I conference of September 2019, three virtual pre-conferences will take place, as part of the DREAM II conference. The three virtual events will develop a joint programming with private sectors, civil society organisations, development partners and government partners for strengthening the coordination, cooperation, and capacitation in the Dry Valley Rehabilitation and Productive Use approach (DVRPU).

The emergencies of 2020 emphasize the need for an aligned approach to systemically enhance the resilience of Ethiopia’s lowlands. The pre-conferences will hopefully contribute to bring all stakeholders closer together in the lowlands of Ethiopia.

The theme of the pre-conferences will be Coordination, cooperation and capacitation for pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in lowland areas and they will be held on the following dates:​

The pre-conferences will be online. However, to allow participation in areas with limited internet connection. A venue will be arranged in both Semara and Jijiga. Participants from the regions can follow the online event using the venue's internet and conference facilities.
